Technical Service Technologist - I

If you would like to pursue a role where you can work with murine models and are interested in scientific research, then this Technical Service Technologist- I position is for you! This position contributes to developing treatments for diseases and new methods of diagnosis that fall in line with the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's mission statement "Finding Cures. Saving Lives."

Work Schedule: M-F, 7am-3:30pm, rotating weekends and holidays; occasional overtime.

The Technical Service Technologist- I responsibilities entail:

+ Provides technical services to support research protocols and departmental murin model health program

+ Maintains high standard of customer service and communicates effectively with research personnel, ARC staff, and representatives from outside institutions

+ Receives and performs requests for murin model-related technical services

+ Performs routine techniques on a variety of laboratory murin models as directed

+ Provides basic murin model breeding colony support and maintenance in accordance with specific research needs

+ Performs health rounds of murin model subjects

+ Performs routine murin model husbandry as needed

+ Six (6) years of experience in a professional animal care facility (e.g. zoo, veterinary clinic, laboratory animal facility) are required with a high school diploma/GED

+ Three (3) years of experience are acceptable with a relevant Associate's degree

+ No experience is required if the necessary basic skills, knowledge and principles of laboratory animal science have been acquired through the completion of a relevant Bachelor's degree

+ High school diploma/GED required.

+ An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an animal science related field preferred

+ (LC:ALAT) Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) is required within 18 months of hire.
